Adults with CHD

If you would like more information about this group please email info@ihhearts.org

The mission of the IHH Adult Support Group is to build a community of adult patients living with congenital heart disease. We strive to improve the lives of adult congenital heart survivors through emotional support and meaningful education.

Our goals are to:
  • Provide face-to-face interaction for adult congenital heart disease survivors
  • Provide psycho-social support for each other's individual needs
  • Create an open and accepting environment where we can all learn and gain meaningful education
  • Encourage adults living with congenital heart disease to continue their congenital cardiac care into adulthood at facilities specializing in adult congenital heart disease
  • Help teens transition into adult cardiac care

One of our major goals is to sponsor a quarterly educational forum within a face-to-face social network. The purpose of this forum is to help adults with a CHD diagnosis deal with the psychosocial complexities of CHD.

Adults with CHD Symposium - November 5th, 2015

Together with Primary Children's Medical center, IHH will hosted an Adults with CHD Symposium on Thursday, November 5th, 2015. The symposium was held in the Eccles outpatient building across from the main Primary Children's campus in the Lone Peak conference room which is on the first floor.

Anyone was able to attend to hear adults speak about living with CHD's and to ask any questions they may have had. We encouraged all of our members to attend if possible, as this was a great opportunity for parents to learn about how their child's transition will go and for older children to ask questions about self management and living as an adult with a CHD.

Growing up with a CHD Symposium - April 26, 2014

On Saturday, April 26, 2014 Intermountain Healing Hearts hosted a Symposium  at the University of Utah Cardiovascular Clinic where a panel of 9 adults with Congenital Heart Defects's talked with and answered questions for parents of children with CHD's.   It was very interesting and informative for both parents and CHD Adults.

A big thank you to our panelists: Mimi McDonald, Michelle Hiles, Ali Clegg, Ashlee Rooks, Matthew Mays, Tiff Passow, Randy Clark, Nick Brady, and Julie Despain.
