According to the American Heart Association, at least eight out of every 1,000
infants born each year have a heart defect. There are about 1 million Americans
with cardiovascular defects that are alive today.  Though research is ongoing, at
least 35 defects have now been identified.

For many parents, the excitement of getting to see their unborn child for the first
time through ultrasound and hearing the heartbeat becomes their first, loving
connection to that child. However, when discovering that their child has a heart
defect, whether diagnosed in-utero, shorty after birth, during childhood, or even
into adulthood, the diagnosis can be devastating and many questions arise in
what the future might hold.

Intermountain Healing Hearts is a new support program formed in September
2007, for families of children or adults with congenital heart defects (CHD's) and
heart disease.  Most of our members live in the Intermountain West (Idaho,
Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah) and are seen through the cardiology clinic
located at Primary Children's Medical Center (PCMC) in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Intermountain Healing Hearts offers resources and a caring support network as
families find answers and move forward to find healing, hope, and peace.
We offer an on-line support  exchange email and to gain
support with those affected by CHD's both living and those
that have lost their battle.
